"At some point in your life you must decide whether you want to impress people or influence people...The most essential quality for leadership is not perfection, but credibility."  I read this quote just the other day while doing my daily bible study.  This statement has made quite an impression on me and quickly reminded me of the value in making an impact rather than worrying about impressing people.  This year has held for me so many wonderful memories, opportunities, and fulfilled dreams. 

At the beginning of my reign, I decided that I would make the most of every moment by becoming a servant-leader.  Since June 21st. I have learned a great deal about servant hood because it has been my goal and desire to give to and invest my life in the people of Arkansas.  I have traveled from one corner of the state to the other talking about good health and encouraging others to strive for life's happiness.  As I have visited preliminary competitions, I have had such a wonderful time and have been so impressed by the quality of the contestants.  I have met amazing people and I have especially enjoyed our state's children.  It took some time adjusting to the "celebrity life", but I have learned that I can use this factor to, hopefully, make an impact on lives.  I am not, and never will be perfect; but I am daily striving to gain more and more credibility, so that I can continue to have a positive impact as Miss Arkansas 2002.
